Advanced Board Mounting Techniques

5 Day Program - $ 995.00

 

This 5-day advanced class covers those special finishing touches that provide professional-looking results, including how to make many variations of cascades, horns, pelmets, cones, and much more. Students will make a Kingston or Empire valance, a soft cornice, and a Hobbled or pleated Roman shade. Students also will learn how to draft patterns and reproduce treatments from photographs. See day to day outline below:

Day 1:

• Kingston and Empires. This day is used to better understand the proper construction techniques and alteration of both Kingston’s and Empire top treatments. Each student is given the opportunity to create a Kingston or Empire treatment this first day.

Day 2:

• This day we will continue Kingston’s and Empire’s and each student has this day to create another treatment of their choice. We also include a very wide variety of embellishments during this day.

Day 3:

• Each student will be taught how to recreate any window treatment they desire. The proportional scale is used to help proportion any photo or drawing to the window size needed. This skill is very valuable in all aspects of the custom workroom business.

Day 4:

• This day covers soft cornice construction. All types of construction will be discussed along with the most recent use of the Skirtex product as the stiffener.

Day 5:

• Each student will create a hobbled roman shade using a variety of methods. A working hobbled shade with mount board and mechanisms will be completed.
